If you think mother cats are always nurturing, think again. Alyssa Masten, a dedicated kitten rescuer and the director of operations at orphanedkitty_corner, shares a remarkable tale about finding two helpless kittens in need of saving. The heartwarming moment happened when Alyssa followed the sounds of distressed mews coming from a barn and stumbled upon a lone, tiny kitten with his sibling by his side.
The two kittens had serious eye infections, leading to the conclusion that their mother had likely left them. Without hesitation, she took the kittens under her care and gave them the treatment they needed. However, what truly surprised Mantes was the size of one of the kittens.
She decided to call the kitten Copper, as he stood out from his brother for being just half the size and weight.
When Copper was only two weeks old, he appeared to be a brand-new kitten despite his age. Mantes expressed his initial worry upon seeing him, but thankfully, Copper has been eating well and is doing great in terms of his overall health.
She also mentioned:
“I’m already completely smitten with this little guy and can’t wait to share updates on how he’s doing! If he stays on the smaller side, we may look into it more closely, but I have a feeling he’ll start growing just fine.”
And so, the recovery journey began. Mantes began feeding Copper his formula while the soothing sounds of birds chirped in the background.
As Copper regained his energy, his true personality shone through, much to Mantes’ delight. Meanwhile, when Mantes is away at work, she makes sure to leave some background noise for her kittens, ranging from classical music to thunderstorms, bird songs, and ocean waves.
Copper, with his small size and unique charm, captured all the attention, almost causing Mantes to forget about introducing his brother, Silver.
Silver is a petite feline with stunning blue eyes and delicate white whiskers. He is the epitome of perfection – beautiful, robust, and developing tiny teeth. Silver delights in purring contentedly and lounging lazily after finishing his meals.
Both kittens were making great progress, and it was clear that Mantes had successfully placed them in caring homes with loving families.
Their new home is with a family that adores cats, where they are showered with cuddles, playtime, and chances to nap leisurely. I truly hope they are thriving and continue to purr contently after each meal.
Credit must be given to Mantes, the hero who responded to the kittens’ cries and rescued them. Without her intervention, the fate of these little fellows would have been uncertain.
